About The Opportunity 
Are you a strategic leader with expertise in clinical costing and a passion for data-driven healthcare? South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking an experienced professional to lead our Costing Team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee high-quality, timely costing submissions to the NSW Ministry of Health, ensuring data integrity and collaboration across clinical and financial teams. You’ll provide expert analysis of cost performance, deliver evidence-based advice to the Executive, and work closely with Health Informatics to enhance costing methodologies—particularly for complex and high-cost services. Your strong leadership, technical knowledge of activity-based costing, and ability to communicate complex information to a broad audience will be essential. What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Costing Manager is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of the Clinical Costing Team, The position takes senior leadership to ensure accurate, reliable, relevant and timely for ensuring submission of the mandatory District and Network Return (DNR) that is fulfilled with Ministry requirements. The position will also ensure clinical costing information is essential in enabling senior executives, clinicians and managers in decision making.    
The incumbent of this position must display an excellent understanding of the business of health as reflected in its data, and significant expertise in undertaking and resolving issues in complex data manipulation and analysis, to ensure validity and reliability of submissions and to enable accurate and efficient data processing.
 
The position provides high level technical support, advice and recommendations to the District Executive and Hospital Managers.

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Statistical, Analysis or other related field or equivalent experience.
  2. Demonstrate understanding of the health system, Activity based funding, clinical costing and clinical costing systems
  3. Describe a time when you identified a significant data quality or costing methodology issue. What steps did you take to resolve it, and how did you work with others to implement improvements or develop bespoke solutions?
  4. Describe your experience in leading or mentoring a costing team, how have you ensured timely and accurate delivery of complex data submission, what strategies have you used to maintain high performance within your team.
  5. Explain how you have successfully engaged with both clinical and financial stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of costing data. How do you present complex costing information to non-technical audiences?
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
