Are you ready for a change? An exciting opportunity awaits in Mona Vale Hospital & Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) Casual Pool.
Located on Sydney’s stunning Northern Beaches, Mona Vale Hospital is an integral part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District, serving the community with dedication and compassion. The hospital delivers a range of essential healthcare services, including inpatient rehabilitation, and operates a 24/7 Urgent Care Centre that provides timely treatment for minor injuries and non-life-threatening conditions.
A significant addition to the Mona Vale Hospital is the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) — the first dedicated facility of its kind in Australia. AYAH is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospice designed to meet the unique physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of young people aged 15 to 24 living with life-limiting illnesses. It offers short-term respite, palliative, and end-of-life care in a home-like, age-appropriate environment that supports dignity, choice, and family involvement.

Expectation of casual pool staff:

NSLHD Casual pool staff are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month to maintain their casual employment status.
What you'll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing will provide support to the nursing team, both Enrolled and Registered, in the delivery of nursing care in an acute care environment. They will be directed tasks and monitored by the Registered Nurse. The incumbent will retain responsibility for their own actions and remain accountable to the Registered nurse for all allocated functions. The tasks an Assistant in Nursing will undertake include room preparation, handling and positioning of patients, gathering of equipment, simple wound dressing, assisting in toileting, showering and bathing patients and removal and cleaning of bedpans and urinals.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate; or current enrolment in Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with evidence of completion of Block 1; or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
- Demonstrate effective communication both written and verbal communication skills and an ability to incorporate effective interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of prior completed acute clinical placements as part of an undergraduate nursing degree or AIN course is highly desirable.
