Great opportunity to act up on a short-term contract to replace Long Service Leave. We are seeking a highly motivated Health Manager to work with the dynamic Clinical Governance Unit team for the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN). This is a full time temporary assignment to commence in Late August till 1st November, 2025. SCHN Policy Manager is to provide leadership, expertise and organisational coordination in all matters relating to policy documents at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN). The Policy Manager will continuously work towards meeting the SCHN Strategic Plan/s and has oversight of policy-related requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and meeting those Standards through systems and processes.

What you'll be doing
The role of the SCHN Policy Manager is to provide leadership, expertise and organisational coordination in all matters relating to policy documents at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN).  The Policy Manager will continuously work towards meeting the SCHN Strategic Plan/s and has oversight of policy-related requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and meeting those Standards through systems and processes.

Please note that throughout the recruitment process you will be assessed with the following:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in policy processes within a complex healthcare setting
  2. Demonstrated expertise in the principles and practices of policy document matters as well as providing high level support to staff in these areas.
  3. Demonstrated high level project management skills, in particular managing multiple projects, process mapping and meeting deadlines.
  4. Demonstrated management experience with well-developed team leadership skills, problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
  5. Demonstrated high level ability to liaise, consult and negotiate effectively with staff of a variety of levels of experience and backgrounds.
  6. Demonstrated high level communication (both written and verbal) skills including development of comprehensive documents and reports and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Tell us about a time when you had to adapt your leadership style to accommodate a diverse team and how you approach this?
  • Provide an example of a time when you led a team through a challenging project? What strategies did you use to keep the team motivated and on track?
  • Given the short-term nature of this contract, how do you plan to effectively manage your time and resources to achieve the goals of the role? Please provide specific strategies you would employ to ensure successful completion of the contract objectives within the designated timeframe.
